Ingredients:
Channa Dal – 3 tsp.
Moong Dal – ½ cup
Jaggery – ½ cup
Milk – ¼ cup (optional)
Coconut – 2 tsp.
Ghee - 4 tsp.
Cardamom - 3 nos.
Rice – 1 tsp.
Raisins & Cashews for garnishing.
Procedure:
In a heated pan add 1 tsp
of ghee, Channa Dal, Moong Dal and roast them until golden brown.
Now pressure cook the
roasted mixture with little water until 2 whistles.
Soak the rice for 20
mins and grind in a mixer with coconut to a fine paste.
In a pestle grind the
cardamom, jaggery into a powder and set aside.
Now add water to the cardamom, jaggery
mixture and filter it to remove dirt.
Now in a medium vessel take
the extracted jaggery,cardamom mixture and bring to a boil.
Meanwhile slightly mash
the pressure cooked dal mixture ,add milk,ground paste and add this to the
jaggery and cook for about 5 mins or until it slightly thickens in a medium
flame. Payasam/ kheer is ready.
In a frying pan heat
the ghee along with raisins and cashews.Add this to the Payasam.
Yummy Payasam is
ready. Serve hot.
